Comrade Baggins

In 1976, The Hobbit was published in the USSR. The fantasy-classic was illustrated by Mikhail Belomlinsky, and to be sure, his work has a distinctly different feel. Not at all wrong, just very different.

While we're on the topic, this site has compiled an impressive collection of artwork from various language-editions of The Hobbit.

  2. I loved it when Comrade Baggins duped the lazy, greedy, Capitalist dragon into attacking the People's paradise of Lake Town. It was even better when the People's champion, Bard, slew the Imperialist worm with his bow and arrow.

    Huzzah!!!
